The Consultation & Advocacy Promotion Service
Individual Advocacy
We have a team of volunteer advocates who work across the two geographical areas of East Lothian and Midlothian, alongside a full time Individual Advocacy Worker (Community).
Our service provides advocacy support to people who have experience of mental health difficulties in the community as well as supporting people in hospital.
We also employ a full-time Individual Advocacy Worker whose main function is to work with service users who may be directly affected by the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003, in particular people attending hearings of the new Mental Health Tribunal.
Staff have delivered training to volunteer advocates and given talks to service users and staff from statutory and voluntary sector agencies on independent advocacy, advance statements, named persons and the Tribunal.
